
Funko, the manufacturer of the popular vinyl toy line Funko POP, is being sued by guitar manufacturer Gibson over what they see as the unauthorised use of their guitars designs on POPs of rock stars. Gibson has trademarked the shapes of a number of guitars. They are not alone in this, Fender does the same. And it is the use of those shapes, such as the below, to which Gibson objects. The claim names specific toys, based on the likenesses Slash, Ace Frehley, Paul Stanley, Kirk Hammet and James Hetfield having such guitars as part of their Popness.
